Mr Archimedes' Bath by Pamela Allen (Paperback)

Bath time turns into a wonderfully funny experiment in Mr Archimedes' Bath, the much-loved Australian picture book written and illustrated by Pamela Allen.

Whenever Mr Archimedes climbs into the bath with his friends Kangaroo, Goat and Wombat, something puzzling happens — the water overflows. Convinced that somebody must be responsible for adding extra water, Mr Archimedes sets out to discover exactly what is going on.

A Bathtub Mystery to Solve

As Mr Archimedes investigates each of his bath-time companions, the story introduces the idea behind Archimedes' principle through a simple situation children can see and understand.

Humour, repetition and Pamela Allen's distinctive illustrations turn the scientific idea of water displacement into an entertaining story to read aloud, while the mystery gives children a reason to keep following along until Mr Archimedes finally works out what is happening.

A Classic Australian Picture Book

First published in 1980, Mr Archimedes' Bath has become an enduring Pamela Allen favourite. The story was commended in the 1981 Children's Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards and remains a popular choice for introducing young children to ideas about water and displacement through storytelling.
