Worth knowing

The smaller Ty lines have always worked well as low-cost gifts: stocking fillers, party bags, reward charts, or the sort of small present you pick up without planning to.

Picking a size

Ty's Beanie Boos run across several sizes, and it is worth matching the size to how the toy will actually be used. Regular, at around 15cm, is the size most people picture and the easiest for a small child to carry about. Medium sits near 24cm, and large is the statement size that tends to stay on a bed or a shelf rather than travelling.

Care instructions

Keep it clean with a surface wash, spot-cleaning with a damp cloth and a little mild detergent and letting it air dry naturally. Machine washing and tumble drying are not recommended.

Who makes it

Ty has been making collectible plush since 1986 and remains one of the few toy brands children recognise by the tag alone. The red heart-shaped swing tag is the quickest way to tell a genuine Ty product from a lookalike, so it is worth leaving on if the toy is being collected rather than played with.
