The LEGO Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory Motorcycle (42238) is a 457-piece motocross bike model for ages 10 and up. It is the smallest of the August 2026 Technic vehicles, and the only two-wheeler in the wave, which makes it a considerably shorter build than the cars released alongside it.
For its size, the bike packs in more function than most sets at this piece count. The cylinder engine is chain-driven from the rear wheel, so pushing the model along turns the mechanism. Front and rear suspension both compress under load, and the oversized handlebars steer the front wheel directly.
Those three systems are what the build is really about. Everything else is bodywork wrapped around them.
At 457 pieces this is an evening's build rather than a project. The 10+ rating reflects the Technic pin and beam construction rather than any single difficult step, and the LEGO Builder app gives 3D instructions if a sub-assembly is hard to read on paper.
A good entry point into LEGO Technic at a lower price than the car models, and an obvious choice for motocross and Ducati fans. It also displays well next to the larger Technic vehicles without taking up much shelf space.
Two-wheeled Technic builds are less stable than cars by nature. Lift the bike by the frame rather than the handlebars or the seat, and stand it on the kickstand rather than propping it against something when displaying it. Keep the chain clear of dust so the drive keeps turning freely.
