Black panthers are leopards with black fur. They are considered as especially mysterious and noble cats of prey, and they are found in the rain forests as well as in higher altitudes areas. With their strong bodies, their excellent night vision and their distinct sense of smell, black panthers are successful nocturnal hunters. In order to keep lions or hyenas from stealing their dead prey, panthers take them up into the trees. After the tiger, lion and jaguar, the black panther is the fourth largest cat of prey.
